What is Meeting Design?
The deliberate practice of designing a meeting before it happens: a clear outcome, the right participants, a structure that gets there, and a decision about whether a meeting is needed at all. Good meeting design treats meetings as products with customers (the participants) and a job to be done, not as calendar defaults.

In practice
Most meetings are status updates, which are better asynchronously. Meeting design asks: what decision or shared understanding requires live interaction? Then it works backwards: who must be present, what pre-reading or AI-prepared context removes the need to recap, and what output the meeting must produce. The highest-leverage move is cancellation: if the meeting cannot be designed, it should not happen.
