What is Breakout Rooms?
A facilitation technique where a large group is divided into smaller subgroups to work on specific tasks, questions, or discussions simultaneously, before reconvening to share insights with the full group.
My perspective
In practice
Invaluable for distributed teams and large workshops. Smaller groups create more psychological safety, encourage quieter voices to participate, and generate more diverse ideas than a single plenary discussion. Often used in combination with Liberating Structures like 1-2-4-All.
