Psychological Safety

What is Psychological Safety?

Amy Edmondson's concept describing an environment where team members feel safe to take interpersonal risks (speaking up, asking questions, admitting mistakes, and challenging ideas) without fear of punishment or humiliation.

In practice

The foundational layer. Without psychological safety, continuous learning is impossible, feedback loops break down, and innovation stalls. It's usually the first thing I address, not the last.
