The Challenge
The Simba Project grew out of decades of psychotherapy research. The question: how do you take dense academic material and turn it into something a child can watch and learn from, and how do you build a system that keeps producing more?
The Process: Building the AI Content Engine
We created a custom AI content engine using Google Gemini Gems, building two specialized tools:
Scenario Creator Gem
A custom-trained AI that generates therapeutic scenarios based on established psychotherapy frameworks, adapted for children.
Character Gem
An AI tool that creates consistent, engaging character descriptions and visual prompts for the Simba universe.
Key Learnings
AI as Creative Partner
We trained custom Gemini Gems on specific therapeutic frameworks. The output was creative but stayed clinically accurate, which was the whole point.
Video Tools Are Evolving Fast
AI video tools are getting better fast, but keeping visual and narrative consistency across episodes still needs a human in the loop.
Domain Expertise Is Irreplaceable
The best work happened when Jürgen's clinical expertise met the AI tooling. One without the other wouldn't have gotten us here.
