Minimum Viable Experiment

What is Minimum Viable Experiment?

The smallest, fastest test that can generate reliable evidence for or against a specific assumption. Where an MVP validates a product concept with real users, an MVE validates a single hypothesis, often before any product exists. It is the unit of learning, not the unit of delivery.

My perspective

In practice

Start with a list of assumptions behind an idea, rank them by risk, then design the cheapest test for the riskiest one. Common MVEs include a fake landing page to measure demand, a concierge service instead of an algorithm, or a Wizard-of-Oz demo. The goal is evidence, not polish.
