The practice of designing and building systems that collect, store, process, and transform raw data into a form that can be reliably used for analysis and decision-making. It's the infrastructure behind every data-informed product, even if nobody sees it.

Most "AI projects" fail not because of bad models, but because of bad data. Clean, well-structured pipelines are the unsexy prerequisite to everything else. Data engineering is the foundation that makes data-informed decision making possible at scale.
