Stakeholder Mapping

What is Stakeholder Mapping?

The practice of systematically identifying all individuals and groups who have an interest in or influence over a project or change initiative. Maps typically plot stakeholders on axes of interest and influence to prioritize engagement strategies.

In practice

Done early and revisited often. The stakeholder you missed is the one who causes problems later. A good map turns abstract "change resistance" into specific names and concerns, making it possible to design targeted conversations rather than broadcasting generic communications.
