Job Shadowing

What is Job Shadowing?

A learning technique where someone observes an experienced colleague performing their work to understand workflows, decision-making processes, and unspoken organizational practices.

In practice

Job shadowing transfers tacit knowledge that documentation can't capture: the "why" behind decisions, the context of workflows, and the nuances of team dynamics. Particularly powerful during onboarding and when cross-training team members.
