What is How Might We?
A reframing technique that converts problem statements into open-ended innovation questions. "We struggle with user onboarding" becomes "How might we make onboarding feel like a discovery?" That small shift from problem to possibility changes the energy in the room: it implies the problem is solvable and invites creative exploration.

Used at the opening of ideation sessions to align the team on the right creative aperture. Works hand-in-hand with Affinity Mapping: cluster research insights, then write one HMW question per cluster. Three to five well-crafted HMW questions can fuel an entire day of ideation.
