What is Creative Constraints?
The deliberate use of limitations (time, resources, format, rules) as a catalyst for creative thinking. Counterintuitively, constraints often produce more original and useful ideas than unlimited freedom, by forcing the mind to explore less obvious territory.
My perspective
In practice
"Design a solution in 8 minutes" or "You can only use what already exists in the product" are constraints that generate better results than open-ended briefs. In facilitation, tight constraints also reduce decision fatigue and prevent the blank-page paralysis that kills creative momentum.
