What is AI Literacy?
The minimum understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and effective use that every knowledge worker needs to collaborate with AI systems productively. Includes: knowing what AI can and cannot do, recognizing hallucinations, understanding when to trust and when to verify, and developing the judgment to use AI as a thinking partner rather than an oracle.

In practice
AI literacy is not about becoming a machine learning engineer. It is about developing the practical intuition to work alongside AI effectively: knowing how to frame a good prompt, understanding why the model sometimes confidently states nonsense, recognizing when AI output needs human verification, and building workflows that combine AI speed with human judgment. For teams, AI literacy is the prerequisite that determines whether AI tools become real productivity multipliers or just expensive autocomplete.
